Hello world! Today I have a fun post for you all. I recently spent a weekend in Miami with my brother and we had a wonderful time. We left thursday night and drove 3 hours and arrived at our friends house in Hialeah (Thank you Rina for the amazing hospitality) and unloaded all of our stuff and got everything settled. Our second stop of the night was Miami Lakes Ale house for some drinks and appetizers. Let me start off by saying that Miami is a whole other ball game, even the Ale house's vibe was much different than my local one in Orlando. Everyone is so much more awake and ready to be out 24/7. After our fun little night we went home and got a lot off rest for our first full day in Miami!
On our first full day, my brother Alex and I had breakfast at this yummy hole in the wall cuban restaurant called Tropical. Let me tell you, this was the most inexpensive breakfast I have ever had at only $4.25, a bang for your buck. We had some Cuban Coffee, croquetas, eggs, sausage, buttered Cuban bread and fries, definitely a great way to start the day, heres a picture;
After breakfast we decided to visit the Wynwood area to see the Wynwood Walls. When we arrived we saw all the beautiful art and wall murals and it took me a while to absorb all of the creativity that surrounded me. Let me show you what I mean, Below are some of my favs;
We stopped by the JugoFresh Juice shop and tried this yummy Strawberry Niño smoothie, definitely refreshing and tasty! After we roamed the streets and shops we left because it was so so so hot and we were sweating. So we decided to top by Lincoln Rd. to do some shopping. I picked up a few things at H&M (Haul coming soon) and enjoyed the beautiful weather and shopping.
That night, our friend Rina's brother had a show with his band (The Stiltsville) so we went to the venue called Moonchine to see them play. After his band played, we went to this awesome little hotdog spot called Dogma. OMG, definitely the best hotdog I have ever eaten. We ended the night with some drinks at Lou's Beer Garden and Sandbar.
Our saturday started off a little slow, we woke up late and had a very filling lunch at a Nicaraguan Fritanga that our friend took us to. It was so delicious, bigger portions so my brother and I had to share. After lunch, we roamed the streets of Hialeah to see the local shops. We even went thrifting and I found a cute little black bag (haul coming soon).
after our shopping we got some rest and had dinner at a Mexican restaurant called I Love Tacos where we indulged in the yummiest authentic Mexican food. With our full bellies we then got ready for our night out in Wynwood. We went to The Wood Tavern where I saw some old friends and had some drinks. It's always great to run into old friends in different cities.
(Quick OOTD: Top | H&M, Shorts | F21, Booties | Lucky Brand, Bag | Mac, Lippie | Smoked Purple by Mac)
After Wood Tavern we stopped by this odd yet fun club/lounge called House, where we met up with one of my brother's friends. Definitely a very trippy place, I loved it! With our hunger on full effect we ended the night at our fav hole in the wall Cuban spot, Tropical, which did I mention is open 24 hours? I miss it!
Sunday was our last day in Miami so after saying our goodbyes and see you soons, we went to Indio Bakery, a nice little family owned Cuban bakery. We had some Coffee (Typical) with some chicken empanadias and some guava pastries. After breakfast we decided to visit Collins Ave. and Lincoln Rd. one last time. I really wanted to visit this boutique I follow on Instagram called Atrium, located on Collins, so we did just that. I even took some pictures in front of their awesome store front light displays;
Miami was definitely a nice relaxing weekend, I am so thankful for our friend Rina and her hospitality. I am also very happy that I was able to spend time with my older brother, who is so smart, knowledgable and informed when it comes to where to go, where to eat and what the cool spots are. He is always reading forums and food blogs, so thanks to him we were able to enjoy some quality inexpensive food, small businesses are the best!
Until next time, Miami!
I hope you guys enjoyed this fun post. I definitely enjoyed writing it and revisiting my memories that I will forever have. Happy Holidays and Happy New Year!
